Luxury Swiss watchmaker, Tag Heuer, launched its Android Wear smartwatch, the Tag Heuer Connected last month in the US.
The smart device has been developed in partnership with Intel and Google.
The Connected Watch is currently available only in the US for US$1,500 (R21,600), with no release date announced for South Africa.
By way of comparison, Apple recently revealed its watch prices for South Africa, ranging between R5,899 and R18,499.
In October, however, Apple reseller Digicape listed pricing for the Apple Watch Edition – the smart device made from 18-karat gold which starts at $10,000 in the States.
Prices in SA start at R159,999 for the 38mm Rose Gold with Sport Band version, and climb up to R269,999 for the 38mm Rose Gold with Modern Buckle wrist strap.
The Connected Watch combines TAG Heuers luxurious design and craftsmanship with the latest technology, which includes an Insiders app that gives trusted travel, fashion and dining tips to subscribers in almost 300 cities around the world.
Big Apple Buddy, a shopping concierge in New York, said that for those who want the watch in SA can pre-order the TAG Heuer Connected immediately.
The company has partnered up with shipping carriers, Fedex, UPS and DHL, meaning customers can receive their new gadget in as little as a week once TAG Heuer begins fulfilling orders.
Consumers simply tell the company what they would like to buy from America and then they will have their product personally sourced and shipped to their doorstep.
The company handles the entire process for the client from order to delivery.
All costs are set out in a free quote with a minimum service fee of $40 per order. The service fee covers all the legwork the company does for its clients, including discount negotiations, packaging, shipping and providing personalized product and shopping advice.
