These are the best-selling hatchbacks in South Africa this year
Hatchbacks have become the preferred vehicle of choice in South Africa for a number of reasons – but mostly due to their affordability, fuel economy and re-sale value, which in a constrained economy is always plus for consumers.
Statistics published by the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (NAAMSA) show that the hatchback continues to dominate the sales charts with seven of these types of vehicles featured on the July list.
The country’s most popular vehicle, and for some time now, is a hatchback – the Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Polo Vivo models – and is closely followed by its Japanese nemeses in the Toyota Auris and Toyota Etios.
Rankings are based on monthly NAAMSA figures. Final vehicle numbers were not available at the time of writing.
