Telkom targets SMEs with new uncapped business products
Telkom has unveiled new mid-level uncapped business Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) products, available at a lower price to its newly-named Premium Uncapped business offering.
Telkom also announced the launch of uncapped VDSL usage-only accounts.
It has renamed its existing Business Uncapped offerings to Premium Uncapped, with the Premium Uncapped bundles retaining the TBiz brand. The new lower-cost DSL products will now trade under the “Business Uncapped” name.
The local telecoms giant said that with this launch it believes it now has a range of uncapped internet products that cater to the South African small business market.
“This latest product inclusion is the middle-of-the-range offering in Telkom Business’s broadband portfolio suitable for customers seeking a product that resides between the Business SoftCapped and Premium Uncapped offers,” Telkom said.
Telkom said that with its existing SoftCapped offering customers can still access the Internet for browsing local and international websites even after they reach their usage limit.
Services such as streaming and peer-to-peer are significantly restricted on SoftCapped products, Telkom said.
Thenew Business Uncapped services will have traffic prioritised during business hours and then shaped in the evenings, whereas traffic on Premium Uncapped accounts is never de-prioritised, Telkom explained.

The new uncapped products offer customers multiple concurrent users and high performance with prioritisation over the network at any time of the day. Telkom said that it also includes up to 40Mbps access speeds in areas where Telkom has deployed MSANs.
