Business Talk – In conversation with Stephen Koseff
Stephen Koseff is a former Investec Group chief executive officer In addition to his directorships of Investec Ltd, Investec plc and various other Investec subsidiaries, he is a non-executive director of the South African Banking Association.
He is also a current board member of Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA).
Koseff is a qualified chartered accountant, holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Higher Diploma in Business Data Processing. He is the recipient of numerous awards including a 2017 Honorary Doctor of Commerce Degree by the University of Witwatersrand.
In this episode of Business Talk with Michael Avery, Koseff discusses how Covid-19 and the resulting lockdown caused enormous damage to a country already in tatters financially.
The pandemic put the world on pause, Koseff said, something he has never seen in his career spanning more than 40 years. He noted that some business, and indeed industries have suffered more than others. He said that unlike previous financial crisis, the pandemic of 2020 has become a ‘human issue’.
Coming out of Covid-19, Koseff discusses with Avery the question of how South Africa can avoid a sovereign crisis, and how the economy can get moving again.
