Yuppiechef moves beyond SA
South African online kitchenware and home product retailer Yuppichef.com has announced that it now ships to eight countries.
The group said that it has started shipping its kitchen and home products to Namibia, Botswana, Mauritius, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zambia and the UAE.
Yuppiechef director Paul Galatis first expressed a desire to expand into Africa in 2013, following two years of rapid growth in terms of customers, products and employees.
The company is regarded as one of South Africa’s best and most popular e-commerce sites, loved for its personal touch in handling customers and delivering products.
The site has been named the best e-commerce site in South Africa in the uAfrica e-commerce awards for four years in a row.
“We looked at what we were doing in SA, and have tried to take that experience as far and wide as we can,” said Yuppiechef head of international growth, Fran Peacock.
“The response has been really encouraging, and we are excited to take our products and services even further afield.”
The group also noted that its Online Cooking School was driving its expansion outside of South Africa.
The school is the first in a line of digital products being offered by the online retailer, offering video-led cooking courses to customers all over the world.
People from over 90 different countries have signed up for the first course the group released, Yuppiechef said.
