Suzuki launching new R200,000 workhorse in South Africa
Suzuki is introducing its new Suzuki Eeco to the South African market.
The van is designed to be a cost-effective goods transporter, targetted at businesses looking for a workhorse to make efficient point-to-point deliveries.
As reported by TopAuto, the van will cost R199,900 and will soon be available at Suzuki’s 95 dealerships across South Africa.
Suzuki said that the Eeco is already a market leader in India, with the new model coming to South Africa having upgraded performance, design, and safety.
“The Eeco has been highly anticipated by our customers in the know. Like the Super Carry, it offers fuel-efficient point-to-point transport of goods at the lowest possible price.
“Unlike its pick-up sibling, however, the Eeco has all the benefits of a panel van and all the safety of its entry-level passenger vehicle sibs,” said Brendon Carpenter from Suzuki Auto South Africa.
The Japanese-based company said that only one Eeco would be available at launch and would feature a mechanical warranty of three years / 100,000 km.
Suzuki highlighted the Eeco’s dimensions, featuring a loading bay with a length of 1,620 mm from the rear door to the start of the steel grid partition that is fitted as standard between the loading bay and cockpit.
Moreover, with a width of 1,300 mm and a height of 1,070 mm, the load bay offers enough space for large and bulky items.
It added that the Eeco’s steering system allows for a turning circle of only 4.5 metres, allowing easy manoeuvrability in tight delivery locations.
The van will feature a workhorse version of the brand’s popular 1.2-litre petrol engine.
It will also have a manual air conditioner, rear parking sensors, two airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS and electronic stability control.
The manufacturer added that the Eeco is easy to maintain, with the K12N engine known for its uncomplicated design and easy access to maintenance items – including spark plugs, engine oil and filters.
The Eeco will only come in one colour – white – which the company said allows for “quick and cost-effective repairs in the case of dents and scratches and low insurance costs.”
