Eskom to suspend load shedding during the day this weekend – here’s the schedule
Power utility Eskom says that it will ease load shedding over the coming weekend, moving sharply from a rotation of stage 2 and stage 4 outages to daytime suspensions.
Stage 2 load shedding will continue until 20h00 on Friday as previously announced, moving up to stage 4 overnight.
This will be to replenish emergency reserves, the group said.
From 05h00 on Saturday, load shedding will be suspended, followed by stage 2 in the evening.
Following another daytime suspension on Sunday, stage 1 load shedding will continue until further notice, Eskom said.
Friday, 8 March
- Stage 2: until 20h00
- Stage 4: 20h00 to 00h00
Saturday, 9 March
- Stage 4: 00h00 to 05h00
- Suspended: 05h00 to 16h00
- Stage 2: 16h00 to 00h00
Sunday, 10 March
- Stage 2: 00h00 to 05h00
- Suspended: 05h00 to 16h00
- Stage 1: 16h00 until further notice

Eskom said that the suspensions over the weekend are due to lower forecast demand, as well as an anticipated 1,500MW of generating capacity expected to be returned by Sunday.
