Singularity South Africa Summit 2026 – Shining a light on the latest AI advances
The Singularity South Africa Summit 2026 was held on 21 and 22 October 2026 and highlighted the latest AI advances and the ways new technologies are shaping the future.
The Summit was held at the Sandton Convention Centre and the sold-out event was attended by over 1,400 delegates interested in learning about the future.
The Singularity Summit South Africa 2026 was presented in collaboration with Old Mutual, event sponsors Google Cloud and Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and metaverse partner UBU.
Leading figures from around the world in AI and technology spoke to this audience over the two days, offering insightful presentations on a broad range of topics.
One of the underlying themes of the Summit was challenging common perceptions of AI and how new technologies are changing the way businesses operate.
This included a focus on the importance of Africa in the development of AI technology and how the continent can help lay the groundwork for the future.
“Africa has both enormous responsibility and opportunity in this global AI future, given the resources that are there and the youth it has,” said Peter Diamandis, Executive Founder and Managing Director at Singularity.
“Singularity South Africa’s mission is to bring a new mindset to the continent.”
New leadership styles and AI-empowered workflows

One of the topics of discussion at the Summit was the impact AI is having on business leadership and operational workflows.
Several presentations highlighted how many business leaders underestimate the impact AI will have on their companies and that, for future success, companies must begin planning around what AI could eventually do rather than what it can currently achieve.
Additionally, AI is increasingly being integrated into company systems beyond the surface level
Workflows are being completely reshuffled, meaning Africa has the opportunity to build AI-first systems and leapfrog the rest of the world without being limited by outdated technology infrastructure.
Innovation and robotics

The Summit also discussed how businesses must approach innovation, touching on the limitations companies impose on themselves and why making mistakes is essential to long-term success.
This included noting that while AI is constantly evolving and becoming more complex, the human capacity to experiment, make unexpected connections, and make discoveries through mistakes remains a major advantage.
One avenue of innovation where constant trial and error is producing notable results is in robotics, where the physical applications of AI are being explored.
This was demonstrated by a live demonstration of how AI in robotics has rapidly advanced to enable better balance and movement.
Additionally, the presentations outlined how Africa’s youth need to be equipped with the skills necessary to build and work alongside new technologies.
These are just a few of the notable topics discussed at the Singularity South African Summit 2026.
When it returns next year, anyone interested in new technologies and their impact on our lives should attend.
“Our mission hasn’t changed. To build a community of change-makers to build a better future for South Africa,” said Shayne Mann, Co-CEO of Singularity South Africa.
“The future isn’t something that happens to us but something we create.”
The Singularity South Africa 2027 Summit will take place on Wednesday 20 & Thursday 21 October 2027, again at Sandton Convention Centre.
