Dark Fibre Africa is currently in the process of deploying fibre infrastructure in excess of R75 million in and around the Benoni metropolitan area.

The project is on the backdrop of the fibre provider’s expenditure plan to deploy infrastructure across South Africa to the value of over R3.5 billion.

The fibre deployment in Benoni will bring the city into the digital age, and will bring investment opportunities along with it, the company said.

Dark Fibre Africa CEO, Gustav Smit explained that they merely provide the open fibre infrastructure.

“This enables licensed operators like Vodacom, MTN, Cell C and ISPs – like Internet Solutions and MWEB – to give communities easier access to the network at much greater speeds,” he said.

The investment will boost the infrastructure which businesses such as ISPs, Internet cafés and banking facilities depend on, while opening up future prospects for the municapility in terms of eHealth and eLearning.

“DFA is here to provide a long term sustainable solution to the local community,” condluded Smit.
