These are the 10 best places to study for a Masters in Management degree

The Financial Times has updated its Masters in Management Ranking for 2017, showing the top institutions when it comes to MiMs, which have become a popular alternative to other business school courses, including the MBA.

According to the FT, the logic is that they are quicker to complete than more expensive MBA programmes, “and teach a similar broad range of leadership subjects and technical skills”.

The University of St Gallen in Switzerland is the top placed institution for the seventh consecutive year for its MA in Strategy and International Management course.

The FT found that grads of that St. Gallen program have salaries of just over $114,000, on average, compared to $102,00 in last year’s ranking. However, the FT pointed out that while St Gallen retains the top spot, French and British business schools, with 24 and 18 programmes respectively, are the backbone of the 2017 ranking of 95 programmes around the world.

HEC Paris retained its second place which it has held since 2014, while Spain’s IE Business School jumps four places to third. “St Gallen outperforms other ranked schools thanks in part to strong scores for international criteria. More than 90% of students and 80% of faculty are from abroad,” the FT said.

The school is also ranked second for both the international mobility of its students and their international exposure during the programme.

“Alumni from the Swiss school also have the third-highest salary, at $114,449, adjusted for purchasing power parity, behind those from the Indian Institute of Management at Ahmedabad, on $116,476, and IIM Bangalore, on $116,094,” the report’s publishers said.
