Spur reveals new look and logo in major brand refresh

 ·7 Sep 2023

Popular South African food franchise Spur has, for the first time in 27 years, refreshed its brand identity and the look and feel of its restaurants.

The group has launched the new look for its restaurants at a pilot store – Amigo Spur, at the Vaal Mall in Vanderbijpark – which reopened on 1 September.

The rebrand at Amigo Spur will be followed by more revamps in the coming months.

These include the:

  • Missouri Spur, Key West Shopping Centre in Krugersdorp
  • Lone Creek Spur, Mall of Africa
  • Yurok Spur in The Mall, Phalaborwa
  • Phoenix Spur, Brooklyn Mall in New Muckleneuk, Pretoria
  • Oak Ridge Spur in The Grove Mall, Equestria

Spur Steak Ranches opened its first store in 1967, with October marking 56 years of the iconic brand being in the country.

Regarding the refreshed look, the franchise has kept the icon of the Native American chief, but has given it a more stylised look.

It has opted for other visual changes, along with a streamlined, bolder, logo typeface.

The new-look pilot restaurant showcased several other features, such as a central dining space with comfortable booth seating and refreshed decor.

In addition, a more adult-focused area for those smaller, intimate occasions will also be introduced.

However, the group is maintaining its child-friendly presence with revamped play areas.
