Load shedding eased for the week ahead – here’s the schedule

Power utility Eskom says that it has managed to replenish emergency reserves, so it is able to ease load shedding to stage 2 for the rest of the weekend and into the new week.

The group had initially planned on escalating outages to stage 3 in the evening, but stage 2 will continue until 16h00 on Monday, the group said.

Thereafter, stage 3 load shedding will be implemented, and a stage 2/stage 3 rotation will be in effect until further notice.

The schedule is as follows:

Sunday, 25 Febraury

  • Stage 2: until 00h00

Monday, 26 February

  • Stage 2: 00h00 to 16h00
  • Stage 3: 16h00 to 00h00

Tuesday, 27 February

  • Stage 3: 00h00 to 05h00
  • Stage 2: 05h00 to 16h00
  • Stage 3: 16h00 to 00h00

Wednesday, 28 February

  • Stage 3: 00h00 to 05h00
  • Stage 2: 05h00 to 16h00
  • Stage 3: 16h00 to 00h00

Eskom said that it expects a total of 4,170MW of generation capacity to be returned by the middle of the week – with any further changes to be communicated if needed.
