Get your Smart ID cards from these bank branches

Home Affairs has provided a list of 11 bank branches which support the eHomeAffairs portal’s Smart ID and passport application process.

The department launched the Smart ID and passport applications website on 7 April, and invited South African citizens between 30 and 35 to use it.

Home Affairs said its focus is currently on Gauteng and Canal Walk in the Western Cape, and asked citizens outside these areas not to use the site until further notice.

Between 7 April and 13 April, 4,088 citizens registered through the online portal, said Home Affairs.

Of those, 140 online applications were successfully processed.

The list of supported bank branches is posted below.

FNB Towers was not mentioned in the listing, but it was one of FNB’s pilot locations for the eHomeAffairs system.
