New Icasa Cost to Communicate timelines
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) has issued revised timelines for the submission of information related to its Cost to Communicate Programme.
Icasa’s Cost to Communicate Programme is currently underway; it outlines all the projects that Icasa is currently undertaking to address concerns about the high cost of communication in South Africa.
Many stakeholders have requested timeline extensions for submissions, in particular the Broadband Value Chain Study and Call Termination Market Review.
Icasa has now issued an extension on its deadlines:
- Broadband Value Chain Study – 29 July 2013
- Call Termination Market Review – 02 August 2013
“At this stage, the Authority foresees no change in the deliverable timelines of these projects as presented on 07 June 2013,” Icasa said in a press statement.
Icasa indicated that it would publish draft Local Loop Unbundling Regulations on the 16th of July 2013. This has not happened.
Icasa said it will inform all stakeholders about the future publication date for these regulations within the next week, since the conclusion of the drafting of these regulations is taking longer than anticipated.
