HONOR launches X9b 5G smartphone in South Africa – Where performance meets durability

HONOR just launched its new X9b 5G smartphone in South Africa, which offers a bunch of flagship features such as its impressive 6.78-inch display, 108MP camera, and high-end performance.

HONOR provided MyBroadband with the X9b 5G to unbox and test – and this was our experience.

Camera and design

We received the Sunrise Orange-coloured model, which features soft vegan leather on the back, making it very comfortable to hold. A Midnight Black colour will also be available in South Africa at launch.

The Matrix AI Vision Camera array was immediately notable thanks to its stylish ring design – which boasts elegant gold finishes.

Within these rings, HONOR has equipped the X9b 5G with a triple camera array that includes a 108MP sensor, a 5MP wide-angle sensor, and a 2MP 4cm Super Macro sensors.

We found that each of these three sensors perform their jobs phenomenally, and when combined with its 3x Lossless Zoom, you will capture every moment with crystal clarity for lasting memories.

Reliving these memories is then made easy thanks to the HONOR X9b 5G’s 6.78-inch 1.5K (2,652 x 1,200) AMOLED display.

The vibrant display offers a flagship-level 1,200 nits of peak brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate to keep all your content looking great.

This impressive display also features HONOR’s Ultra-Bounce Anti-Drop resistance for enhanced durability and peace of mind.

This resistance is thanks to advanced cushioning technology using newly developed materials that increase shock absorption by up to 20%.

Durability extends to the chassis, too, with the X9b 5G earning a rare SGS Five-Star Overall Drop Resistance certification, as well as an IP53 Water and Dust resistance certification.

Performance and battery

The HONOR X9b 5G’s hardy chassis houses a flagship-level 4nm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 gaming chipset that provides you with snappy performance while cycling through apps or playing games.

Supplementing this is 8GB RAM that can be extended to 20GB of memory through HONOR’s RAM Turbo technology.

This technology uses up to a further 12GB from the X9b 5G’s 256GB of local storage for increased memory performance.

As a result, the HONOR X9b 5G runs smoothly no matter what you are doing and can handle even the most demanding tasks.

All of the X9b’s impressive performance is powered by an impressively large 5,800mAh battery designed to ensure that even the most intensive users don’t have to worry about their smartphone lasting the whole day.

The high-energy-intensity battery will last you up to three days, provide you with 19 hours of online video playback, or last for 12 hours of online gaming.
