MWEB’s WiFi network takes flight

MWEB is set to launch its WiFi service at Lanseria International Airport, later this week, as part of an expanding network.

Travelers will be able to engage with instant, ‘high quality’ internet access via WiFi zones, which cover the majority of the venue and aren’t subject to the challenges of traditional  WiFi hotspots, the ISP said on Monday (24 November).

In June MWEB launched a free WiFi ‘zone’ in Florida Road, Durban, its first WiFi activated high street.

The group said at the time that, over the coming months, consumers would start benefiting from a broadening network of WiFi zones at strategic hubs around South Africa – from airports, to shopping malls to popular social venues.

As part of the broader Naspers Group, MWEB said that its WiFi zones would be perfectly suited to carrying broadcast content such as video-on-demand and mobile TV.
