Dimension Data sells distribution business

 ·12 Feb 2014

Dimension Data has entered into an agreement to sell its distribution business, Express
Data, to Australian Securities Exchange -listed hardware distributor, Dicker Data.

Dimension Data did not disclosed the purchase price.

The transaction includes the purchase of Dimension Data’s Australia and New Zealand operations of Express Data and Express Online.

The transaction is subject to Dicker Data shareholder approval, and is expected to be completed by 31 March.

Dimension Data’s CEO, Brett Dawson, said: “The decision to sell the entity is part of  Dimension Data Group’s strategy to sharpen its focus. While the resale of technology remains a core element of Dimension Data’s value proposition to clients, physical distribution is typically outsourced  to specialist distributors.

“The sale of the company follows our decision to exit the physical distribution
market.”

“Dicker Data will be gaining a great team of 350 employees who have built an outstanding business and have been  fantastic contributors to Dimension Data over many years,” he said,” Dawson said.

Dimension Data has said it has an aggressive five-year plan with a focus on accelerating into newer areas such as managed services, IT outsourcing, and the next-generation data centre while also capitalising on the transformational opportunities offered by IT-as-a-service.
