IBM South Africa appoints new country head
IBM has announced the appointment of Hamilton Ratshefola as country general manager, IBM South Africa.
He succeeds Abraham Thomas who served the group for the past three years.
Ratshefola will be responsible for all of IBM’s sales, marketing, services and global delivery operations in South Africa.
Ratshefola has over 20 years of industry experience and has led the company’s sales efforts in South Africa since 2012, when he returned to IBM after founding Cornastone, an IBM Business Partner.
After beginning his career as an IBM graduate hire in 1990, Ratshefola worked as a mainframe systems engineer in the banking and retail environment before moving into sales. He was then promoted into a series of management and industry leadership positions and has held various roles with IBM in the United Kingdom, Italy, Denmark and the United States.
He will oversee the roll out of the company’s recently announced R700 million investment programme in high-tech skills development as well as the opening of a new Research Lab in Braamfontein in 2016.
Ratshefola holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Information Technology, Business Economics and Accounting from the University of North West.
Thomas will be returning to IBM in Singapore following the successful completion of his assignment.
