Walk your dog or beat traffic on this R14,000 electric skateboard

Design retailer Houdt has launched an electric powered longboard capable of reaching speeds of up to 30km/h into the South African market.

The Houdt Freeboard comes in two forms, the Rider and the Cruiser. Both boards have handheld remotes that controls the direction of the board while you ride.

The remote enables adjustable speed, and high-performance braking, which is regenerative meaning that if you’re travelling downhill and brake a lot, you charge the board and restore some power.

The board weighs approximately 7kgs, and is capable of riding 30 kilometres on a single 4-hour charge.

The boards are available for pre-order at R1 999, with the balance of R12 000 to be paid on delivery online.
