Top African destinations for the super rich
A new report by New World Wealth shows which countries on the African continent played host to the most foreign multi-millionaires in 2015.
Multi-millionaires refer to individuals with net assets of US$10 million or more.
Africa received approximately 43,000 multi-millionaire visitors in the 12 months to September 2015, the group said, with South Africa being the most popular destination on the continent.
Approximately 11,000 multi-millionaires visited the country during the 12 month period – and this despite new visa rules that made it more difficult for visitors to enter the country.
Major destinations for them within South Africa included:
- Cape Town
- Johannesburg
- Umhlanga
- Franschoek
- Stellenbosch
- Kruger Park (mainly around Sabi Sands)
- Garden route (mainly around Knysna)

Major destinations outside of SA included:
- Mauritius
- Seychelles
- Marrakech in Morocco
- Casablanca in Morocco
- Cairo in Egypt
- Nairobi in Kenya
- the Serengeti in Tanzania
- Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt
- the Masai Mara in Kenya
- Livingstone in Zambia
- the Okavango Swamps in Botswana
