Dimension Data will become the new title partner of Ryder Cycling, which owns & manages Team MTN-Qhubeka.

Citing tough market conditions, mobile giant MTN confirmed in July, its withdrawal as headline sponsor of the MTN-Qhubeka cycling team.

MTN said it had spent in the region of R100 million on the team since 2013.

The team made history this year as the first African team to compete in the Tour de France alongside five other wild-card teams.

Team MTN-Qhubeka achieved numerous successes including:

  • Wearing the prestigious King of the Mountain jersey for four days on the shoulders of Eritrean rider, Daniel Teklehaimanot.
  • Team finishing in fifth place overall in the Team competition out of a total of 22 teams
  • Stephen Cummings winning the 14th stage on Mandela Day

Douglas Ryder, Team Principal said: “We are incredibly excited to have Dimension Data become our new title partner. It enables us to continue to support the development of African cycling and the Qhubeka charity at the highest levels in world cycling.”
