These are the ultra-luxury cars that South Africans are buying
Wealthy South Africans have clear favourites when it comes to the luxury cars that they are buying.
Credit Suisse estimates that 61,000 South Africans are members of the top 1% of global wealth holders, and that 50,000 are US dollar millionaires.
While luxury car makers have been historically tight-lipped about the number of cars that they sell, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa’s (Naamsa) sales data for April 2019 provides some idea.
The sector is typically defined by large swings due to the small number of units sold but Porsche has consistently dominated the bestsellers list, with the manufacturer selling 105 cars in the country in April.
By comparison, Maserati sold seven vehicles, Bentley and Scuderia sold six each, and Lamborghini sold three vehicles.
Below BusinessTech looked at some of the cars that were sold and how much they cost.
