JSE-listed antenna manufacturer Poynting (POY) has announced that it has acquired South African-based high-frequency antenna manufacturer Radiant Antennas for an undisclosed amount.

Radiant is a South African company which specialises in the design, manufacture and supply of high (HF), very high (VHF) and ultra high frequency (UHF) antennas and masts for both military and civil applications.

In addition to HF, VHF and UHF antennas, Radiant’s range of products includes antennas for Wireless Local Area Networks (LANs). Radiant’s products, which have been designed for military use, are used globally by a number of countries.

According to Poynting, the acquisition will expand the company’s current product range to include HF, VHF and UHF antennas and masts, unlock operational efficiencies and further entrench Poynting in the international defence industry.

The effective date of the acquisition was 1 July 2012.

“Graeme Cunningham Davis, the founder and General Manager of Radiant has entered into a contract of employment with Poynting Antennas and will add considerably to the growth of the company going forward,” Poynting said.
