3.7 magnitude tremor shakes Joburg

 ·1 Mar 2019

Residents in parts of Joburg reacted to a 3.7 magnitude tremor on Friday morning.

Gauteng Weather reported the tremor shortly before 07h00, with the epicentre near Randfontein, a gold mining city in the West Rand.

It follows a similar size tremor felt in the city in February, while the Council for Geoscience (CGS) has reported magnitude 5.5 earthquakes in recent years, due mainly to all the mining activity in and around the city.
