Cisco appoints new MD for SA
Network equipment maker, Cisco Systems Inc, has appointed Alpheus Mangale as the new Managing Director for its South African operations.
Mangale will be based in Johannesburg, and succeeds current MD, David Meads, whose tenure ends in July 2012.
Mangale had previously held numerous positions in Dimension Data Group over the past 15 years, where his most recent role was as sales director, working across all lines of the company’s business.
Mangale will report directly to Cisco’s VP for the emerging theatre, Duncan Mitchell.
“I’m confident that under Alpheus’ leadership, given his proven expertise, Cisco will continue to engage strategically and successfully with both the government and key organisations to make a significant impact on innovation, productivity and sustainability in South Africa,” said Mitchell in a statement.
Mangale will focus on enabling digital inclusion through working with local government and organisations to facilitate ICT transformation and boost economic development in South Africa.
