Singularity South Africa Summit 2025 pushes new boundaries
Singularity South Africa recently held its seventh Summit in Sandton, and BusinessTech was invited to attend the event.
The summit was held in collaboration with Old Mutual over two days and brought together leading tech minds to discuss how new technologies could be used to future-proof South Africa.
The summit was attended by over 1,100 delegates in person and a further 1,000 online, watching and engaging with the summit through the UBU metaverse.
Singularity South Africa Co-CEOs, Mic Mann and Shayne Mann, opened the event and welcomed physical and online guests.
Following their introductions, attendees were treated to many different presentations across two days.
Day one

David Roberts, a global expert in disruption, innovation and leadership, discusses how future leaders are being empowered by technology.
The summit’s first day featured a huge array of thought-provoking presentations and talks from industry leaders.
This included talks from David Roberts, a global leader in disruption and innovation, unpacking the importance of technology in shaping Africa’s economic future.
Roberts also noted that technology could tackle issues such as crime and corruption and that youth leadership is essential for the region’s long-term success.
The first day also featured Celiwe Ross, the Director for Group Strategy, Sustainability, People and Public Affairs at Old Mutual, discussing the importance of technology in modern leadership.
Ross was followed by presentations from Anita Schjøll Abildgaard, the CEO of Iris.ai, Peter Xing, a data and AI specialist for Microsoft, and Maureen Costello, CEO of Future Dynamics.
Key topics that were threaded across all these presentations included the transformative power of technology in Africa and the positive impact it can have on various sectors.
Day two

The physical crowd on the second day of the summit was listening to the talks.
The second day of the summit continued the first day’s engaging and thought-provoking conversations.
Highlights of these talks include discussions of the potential of biotech to reshape lives by bioscience expert Dr Tiffany Vora, as well as a panel discussion on the impact of humanity’s extended lifespans with Paul Pagnato, co-founder and Executive Chairman of Humanaut Health, and Kim Hulett, founder and CEO of Next Biosciences.
Dr Michael Breus (commonly known as The Sleep Doctor), a best-selling author and clinical psychologist, then talked about how to improve sleep patterns for healthier living.
Following these presentations, more experts discussed important topics such as data applications and the potential benefits of digital assets in the workplace and creator economies.
These were led by speakers such as:

- Mic Mann
- Reece Meyer, Co-Founder of Ace Labs
- Nadia Jaftha, entrepreneur and award-winning Glamour Woman of the Year content creator.
Closing and the future
After two action-packed days of knowledge, the event concluded with a final session from Shayne and Mic Mann, where the Co-CEOs unpacked what attendees could expect from Singularity South Africa in the coming months.
This included assurance of next year’s summit and the organisation’s continued efforts to build a brighter, technology-driven future for all South Africans.
