BITanium helps businesses build an AI-ready data foundation with IBM watsonx.data
For organisations looking to scale with AI, the biggest challenge is not usually the technology itself, but the data needed to make it work.
BITanium helps organisations simplify hybrid data integration, unify trusted enterprise data, and accelerate AI initiatives with IBM watsonx.data and IBM watsonx.data integration.
It recently hosted a webinar in partnership with IBM, which explored how IBM watsonx.data helps organisations connect fragmented enterprise data and create an AI-ready foundation.
Connecting fragmented enterprise data
The webinar highlighted how enterprise data is often distributed across operational systems, cloud platforms, on-premise environments, and content repositories.
“The problem is that data is everywhere, but it’s not connected,” said Thabani Poswa, Technical Specialist at BITanium Consulting.
He explained that this creates data silos that can prevent AI from accessing the full picture.
“AI may have access to the data, but it does not have access to the full business context,” Poswa said.
The webinar demonstrated how IBM watsonx.data can create a link between diverse data sources and the consumers that need the information, without requiring organisations to move or consolidate all their existing data.
Turning enterprise data into AI-ready information
IBM watsonx.data creates an AI-ready data foundation that enables AI to make sense of fragmented, unstructured information.
This process involves BOB, IBM’s AI assistant.
BOB provides users with a behind-the-scenes look at its reasoning process. For example, when asked to investigate a delayed order from a retail supply chain example, it won’t simply produce a generic answer.
It will display underlying code, actively formulate queries, and pause to ask the human user for approval before executing the tasks.
“We combine structured and unstructured information into one answer through the interface of what we call Bob,” said Ronny Kerkhofs, IBM’s watsonx.data Lakehouse Leader for EMEA.
“So Bob is a very technical tool; it allows you to see every step of the process.”
In the webinar, this was demonstrated, showing how BOB investigated the cause of a delayed order and recommended actions – like applying a customer credit and escalating the issue.
For BITanium, the webinar demonstrated how organisations can address fragmented data environments while building the foundation required to support AI initiatives.
