Helping business flow – Coen Jonker discusses TymeBank’s growth in business banking

 ·4 Aug 2022

Coen Jonker is the CEO of TymeBank – a position he took over at the beginning of July 2022.

He has vast experience across fields like retail banking, fintech, and deal-making – both in South Africa and across several Asian markets.

Jonker is focused on supporting TymeBank’s impressive growth trajectory by recruiting several new senior hires and leading selected strategic acquisitions.

In this episode of Helping business flow, sponsored by Sage, Jonker discusses the state of the digital banking industry in 2022.

He explains how TymeBank has evolved with the digital banking industry to remain South Africa’s fastest-growing digital bank.

Jonker highlights that TymeBank’s proposed acquisition of Retail Capital will allow it to build scalable digital business solutions that tap into the needs of unserved, underserved, and undercapitalized small and micro businesses.

This is thanks to the impressive operational funding model that Retail Capital has developed over the years, and Jonker explains how this model is synergistic with TymeBank.

Jonker then explores the different products and services that TymeBank has just launched, including:

  • TymePOS – A mobile point-of-sale app that turns an NFC-enabled smartphone into a tap-and-go payment device.
  • TymeTrybe – A financial community platform featuring an extensive range of business tools, accredited courses, educational services, and networking opportunities.

He concludes by explaining that all of TymeBank’s services are available online and through apps, and the digital bank is also rolling out kiosks in The Foschini Group stores alongside its existing presence in Boxer stores.

This means there are multiple ways to learn more about TymeBank’s exciting suite of offerings.
