Uber launches 2 new safety products specifically for South Africa
Taxi app Uber has unveiled two new safety products designed specifically for its operations in South Africa.
A new insurance policy which is designed to cover riders’ injuries or death while on a trip with Uber in South Africa will be provided by Chubb, through its South African subsidiary, Chubb Insurance South Africa.
In the unfortunate event of an accident, the coverage provides passenger accident insurance, which covers compensation for accidental death or serious injury suffered by passengers whilst on a trip with Uber.
Uber has also partnered with RoadCover, who will provide assistance to riders and other third parties with their submission of claims submitted to the Road Accident Fund at no cost to themselves.
RoadCover removes the complicated process that users face when processing a claim with the Road Accident Fund.
Uber said it will continue to look for ways to do more to ensure safety on the road for transportation providers and their passengers.
