Here is the official petrol price for August

The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has published the official fuel price adjustments for August 2023.

Petrol prices will increase by 37 cents per litre, while diesel will be going up by 71 and 72 cents per litre.

The changes will come into effect from Wednesday, 2 August 2023.

The average international product prices for Petrol, Diesel and Illuminating Paraffin increased during the period under review.

The Rand appreciated against the US Dollar during the period under review, on average, when compared to the previous period.

The average Rand/US Dollar exchange rate for the period 30 June 2023 to 27 July 2023 was 18.2801 compared to 18.6825 during the previous period.

This led to a lower contribution to the Basic Fuel Prices on petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin by 27.46 c/l, 26.64 c/l and 27.11 c/l respectively.

In line with the provisions of the Self-Adjusting Slate Levy Mechanism, the Slate levy on petrol and diesel will remain at 0.00 c/l with effect from 2 August 2023.
