Sell your skills for R50
A new South African online freelance marketplace has launched, offering a number of outsourcing options to anyone – starting at R50 a pop.
The site, called forafifty.co.za seeks to create job opportunities in South Africa, and allows for businesses, particularly SMEs to “succeed and expand”, even under financial constraints.
The platform follows a similar model to fiverr.com, which offers services – ranging from the creative and professional to more fun and frivolous – for a fixed $5 fee.
Noleen Mariappen, director and owner of the site, highlighted that outsourcing has become the order of the day for businesses that would like cost-effective ways to improve business sustainability and profitability.
“It is time that those who are unemployed, or who would like to add to their income streams, benefit from this and maximise on the opportunity, by offering their skills, knowledge or expertise online, and For A Fifty provides the means by which to do this,” the company said in a statement.
The site allows freelancers to sign up and provide various services for R50 a go. Payments to freelancers are facilitated through PayPal.
Current services on offer include logo designs, developing web applications, writing content, online research, and various Photoshop tasks.
“From as little as R50, businesses can get their job done to cut cost in overhead and personnel costs. In the same vein, professionals and every-day people can make extra money from what they know, or what they can do,” said Mariappen.
