Tesla will bring its new Model 3 to South Africa – those interested in the car can register for their pre-order from today, which requires a $1,000 deposit.
India, Brazil, South Korea, Singapore, New Zealand, and Ireland are also set to receive the electric car.
The Tesla Model 3 was unveiled during the early hours of 1 April SA time, boasting a range of 346km and a $35,000 price tag.
The Model 3 is set to ship in late 2017.
Tesla said it will begin deliveries in North America starting on the West Coast, moving east.
“As we continue to ramp production, we will begin deliveries in Europe, APAC, and right-hand drive markets,” said Tesla.
A MyBroadband reader who placed their order said while they were charged in US dollars for the registration, the conversion was set at R15 per dollar.
Tesla Model 3 deliveries in South Africa are expected to begin during 2018.
