Inside the R75 million ‘castle’ up for sale in South Africa

 ·27 Nov 2016

The Castle on the Cliff in Plettenburg Bay has been listed for sale in South Africa – available to anyone who has R75 million lying around for a truly unique buy.

The Castle on the Cliff isn’t a castle in the traditional, European sense, but rather a sizeable property sitting in isolation on the southern coastline near Plett.

The 600 square metre property is built from local stone, and has been designed to look like a castle, sitting on a 67 hectare piece of land.

It offers 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms and 3 reception areas, and a private lower-level study. The kitchen is designed for handling catering – with outside laundry and ample storage.

There is also on-site accommodation for staff (including a staff quarters and a manager’s cottage).

A notable part of the land is a natural cave that dates back to pre-historic times.

“This expansive natural wonder was home to people thousands of years ago and various artefacts that have been found on-site. These belong to this home and are included in the sale,” Sotheby’s said.
