South Africa among the top 25 ‘booziest’ countries in the world

A new map based on WHO’s annual Global status on Health and Alcohol shows the which are the world’s booziest countries based on the amount of alcohol consumed by a country’s average citizen over the course of the year.
The map which was collated by travel website Vouchercloud found that Eastern Europeans Moldova are in the top spot, consuming 17.4 litres of alcohol a year.
They were closely followed by European neighbours Belarus, Lithuania, Russia and the Czech Republic who made up the rest of the top 5 respectively.
The report found that South Africans consume around 11.5 litres of alcohol per person per year, making it the 22nd booziest country in the world.
