New restaurants launching in the biggest National Park in South Africa

South African National Parks (SANParks) has announced several new restaurant changes at selected camps in the Kruger National Park.

This comes as part of SANParks efforts to enhance and invest in the tourism facilities and visitor experiences at the national park.

SANParks said that the appointment of the new restaurants comes after a “transparent and competitive” tender process that attracted several popular hospitality brands.

“The appointments coincide with the expiry of the previous concession agreements and form part of SANParks’ commitment to enhancing visitor experiences and maintaining world-class tourism facilities,” SANParks said.

The former Mugg & Bean at Lower Sabie will be reopened as Sabie River Café, while the Wimpy at Pretoriuskop will become Le Lapeng Burgers and Grill. 

Tindlovu Restaurant at Berg-en-Dal will be transformed into Eziko Eatery, and the Cattle Baron at Skukuza will be refurbished to give it a fresh look and feel.

SANParks explained that temporary dining facilities with limited menus will be available during the refurbishment periods to ensure the continuity of service for visitors.

“SANParks and the respective operators apologise for any inconvenience caused by the upgrades and appreciate visitors’ patience and understanding,” it said.

SANParks said that the new operators will introduce new concepts, investment and energy to selected camps in the park, which should contribute to economic growth, job creation and an enhanced tourism offering.
