Ride hailing app Uber has launched a rewards programme for Uber driver-partners in South Africa to save on fuel and mobile phone deals.
Uber said it is able to offer a rewards programme ultimately designed to help driver-partners grow their own businesses and reduce their overall operating costs, said Alon Lits, GM for Uber Sub-Saharan Africa.
Notable deals include:
- A fuel rebate: Uber has partnered with Zamlim Investments who are the administrators of SA’s leading fuel rewards programme. Driver-partners can swipe their rewards card at participating service stations and earn points to save on fuel.
- Cell phone deals: Uber is working with Cell C to offer driver-partners mobile phone plans as driver’s mobile phones are the primarily platform from which they run their businesses.
- Maintenance: Uber has negotiated some preferential deals for driver-partners to make sure their vehicles are in tip top shape! Tiger Wheel & Tyre offers preferential discounts to driver-partners operating on the Uber app as well as a 30% discount on all service related products.
- Health: Uber has teamed up with MyHealth to help driver-partners find the best health insurance plan for them and their families. MyHealth provides comprehensive, private primary Healthcare, offering drivers a host of extended benefits for only R73 incl VAT per week.
“Uber values driver-partners and we are always looking to enhance their experience while saving on their costs, in order for them to make the most of their small businesses. We believe these rewards will help drivers have a better driving experience when using the Uber app,” Lits said.
