Vodacom confirms executive exit
Vodacom has confirmed that Enzo Scarcella, managing executive for postpaid, has decided to leave the company “to reflect on his career”.
“It is with regret that I announce that Enzo Scarcella…has decided to leave the business after an illustrious career with Vodacom,” said Phil Patel, chief officer for the Vodacom consumer business unit.
Scarcella joined Vodacom in 2007 as managing executive for marketing, on the back of stints at businesses such as SAB and EDCON.
“Enzo will be taking a break to reflect on his career. We wish him all the best. I will assume the responsibilities in the Postpaid area until a suitable replacement is announced,” Patel said.
Industry speculation is rife that Scarcella is to join Telkom in an executive role.
Scarcella worked under Telkom CEO Sipho Maseko – then Vodacom South Africa MD – for most of 2012, until Maseko left the mobile operator in August of that year.
