Honor launches world’s thinnest and lightest foldable smartphone in South Africa
Honor has launched its Magic 6 Pro and Magic V2 flagship smartphones in South Africa, available in stores from 2 April.
Both feature state-of-the-art technical capabilities, with the Magic V2 claiming the title of the thinnest and lightest foldable smartphone in the world.
The Magic 6 Pro then boasts the world’s best smartphone camera, according to DXOMARK.
“The Magic Series redefines industry standards as every bit of technology embedded in these devices has been developed and tested by Honor,” said Honor South Africa General Manager Fred Zhou.
“This means we can guarantee these smartphones are like nothing you’ve seen before.”
Honor Magic V2
The Honor Magic V2 is the thinnest and lightest foldable phone yet. It is 9.9mm thick when folded, and weighs 231g.
This slim design is paired with a refined black colour and vegan leather back.
Honor has also focused on durability for the new smartphone, using a unique Super-Light Titanium Hinge which can withstand over 400,000 folds. This is the equivalent of over 10 years of use at 100 folds a day.
Photographers will enjoy the Magic V2, too, thanks to its five-sensor camera system.
There are three sensors in the primary camera system, and two front-facing cameras you can use when the Magic V2 is folded or unfolded.
The primary camera includes an 8×8 dToF Laser Focusing System that uses real-time data to improve accuracy and focus.
The Magic V2 has a recommended retail price of R39,999.
Honor Magic 6 Pro
The Honor Magic 6 Pro stands out in its segment thanks to its camera array and generative AI technology.
This is delivered through a Magic Portal feature that generates custom shortcuts for each user based on their activity patterns.
The Magic Portal also lets you drag messages and images to the screen edge, triggering a wide range of services – including online searches, integrated shopping features, and social sharing.
To support these features, the Magic 6 Pro packs all of the important performance features you would expect from a flagship device – including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 gen 3 processor, 12GB RAM, and 512GB of storage.
Avid photographers will also be impressed by the Magic 6 Pro’s AI-driven Falcon Camera System, which provides unmatched motion capture functionality.
This system is headlined by a 180MP Periscope Telephoto camera, and is the top-rated smartphone camera on DXOMARK.
The Magic Pro 6 will launch with a recommended retail price of R27,999 in Epi Green and Black.
