Nashua Mobile’s bold retail ambition
Nashua Mobile CEO Mark Taylor says that close on 80% of the group’s sales come through its deal matching offer it launched in January.
The group’s ‘Network Price Promise’ guarantees to match any offer on any on South Africa’s three largest Networks (Cell C, MTN and Vodacom).
Under terms of the deal, Nashua Mobile, a wholly-owned subsidiary of JSE-listed Reunert, matches any commercially viable offer on a postpaid contract option available from any retail competitor on a deal made up of the same device, on the same network and on the same tariff plan.
In an interview with BusinessTech, Taylor said: “We have aggressive plans to roll out much more retail distribution. Just in the last year, our retail sales are up 40% year on year. That’s been our focus, to get the stores and the service right.
“We’ve gone bold, ultra-modern look and feel to our stores. It’s paying dividends,” he said.
“We have 150 (retail stores) at the moment, we approved another five last week. We will probably be in another 50 malls in the next two years, and then we are also looking at partners in the retail space,” the chief executive said.
“We only have one thing at Nashua Mobile: service. We don’t build handsets, we don’t have networks. It’s about service here,” Taylor said.
He said that the group’s partnership with Glomail didn’t work as well as he had hoped, as it is not seen as a traditional space for mobile services.
However, for its Network Price Promise deal, Taylor highlighted the group’s traction. “We will match any deal in the market….we’ve had that running for six months. Almost 80% of deals are now match deals,” he said.
In December, Nashua Mobile announced a retail partnership with “As Seen on TV” product supplier Glomail.
The group’s products went on sale in over 50 Glomail stores in prime retail locations from December 8th.
In November, Nashua Mobile announced a similar partnership with music and entertainment group, Look & Listen.
