The new Ineos Grenadier off-roader SUV is available to order in South Africa from 18 May, starting at R1,416,985.
Despite, thousands of reservists across the globe having priority to secure their build slot, anyone in the launch sites – including South Africa – will be able to configure and order their vehicle
Powering the Ineos Grenadier is a choice of BMW 3.0 litre turbocharged inline-six engines; either petrol or diesel.
According to Ineos, the turbo petrol engine produces 210kW and 450Nm of torque, while the twin-turbo diesel generates 183kW and 550Nm. Both engine types offer the Grenadiers a 3.5-tonne towing capacity.
An online configurator at Ineos Grenadier assists customers through the ordering process and once the configuration is selected, a deposit of R40,000 – refundable until the vehicle contract is signed – secures a build slot.
Ineos noted that the R10,000 reservation fee already paid by customers will contribute to the deposit amount.
In South Africa, SMG has been appointed as the exclusive retailer of all Ineos Grenadier vehicles for the South African coastal regions of KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape, Northern Cape and Eastern Cape.
Ineos will offer support for parts and service needs through Ineos-accredited retailers and independent 4X4 specialist workshops.
Stock of common parts will be held in accredited service networks and if they are not on the shelf, they will be dispatched from the global parts hub in Belgium, Ineos said.
The Grenadier will come with a vehicle warranty provision of five years/100,000km as well as a three-year paint warranty, a three-year warranty for accessories, and the ladder-frame chassis and body components will have a 12-year anti-perforation warranty.
The base price can fluctuate on the willingness of the customer to configure their own 4X4. The standard specification Grenadier offers the ability to be a no-nonsense stripped-back workhorse whilst retaining comfort and the standard features today’s drivers expect, said Ineos.
Ineos Automotive also offers two pre-configured vehicle editions, the Grenadier Trailmaster and the Fieldmaster Editions. The Trialmaster Edition has been specified with extreme off-roading in mind, while the Fieldmaster puts functionality and versatility as the top priority.
All available editions are customizable through a wide range of options and accessories.
“From launch, Ineos will offer a wide range of factory-fit options, the pre-packaged Rough and Smooth options packs, and an extensive choice of accessories. An open-source approach means customers can affix existing kits, and pre-wired electric access points mean fitting lights and other powered accessories is straightforward,” noted Ineos.
