South Africa’s white population is shrinking

South Africa’s white population is shrinking, down more than 70,000 over the past five years, according to new data by Statistics South Africa (Stats SA).

The country has added 800,000 people to its population over the past year, and has grown by more than 15 million people since 1996, StatsSA said.

The stats body unveiled its community survey for 2016 showing that the country’s population has reached 55.7 million in 2016 – up from 40.6 million in 1996.

  • 2001 – 44.8 million
  • 2011 – 51.8 million
  • 2015 – 54.9 million
  • 2016 – 55.7 million

Breaking down the population by racial segments, the data showed that the country’s white population has declined from 4 586 838 in 2011, to 4 516 691 in 2016 – a loss of 70,147 people (-1.5%).

The black population has increased by nearly four million over the same period – from 41 000 938, to 44 891 603 people (+9.5%).

The coloured population has increased to 4 869 526  from 4 615 401 people (+5.5%), while the Indian/Asian population has grown to 1 375 834, from 1 286 930 people in 2011 (+6.9%).

Rather show me these same stats based on the tax paying population… I would consider having 10 children, but can barely afford a wife.

    • Snowlock2.0

The trick is not to have a wife but to go forth and impregnate 10 women at a time.

      • fourijm

And let grandma look after them.

    • SpiritOfNehanda

You scumsters always want to sound like the majority of this country do not pay tax, what’s up with that?

      • Zilla

Technically, the majority DON’T pay tax. I accept that unemployment etc. play into this substantially, but the reality is just that – the majority of the country do NOT pay taxes. Its not a black – white – indian – coloured thing, its a fact.

        • awethu

If you buy your food from a shop then you pay tax

          • Zilla

true – I limited it to income tax … point taken … lesson learnt about assumptions 🙂

          • awethu

Yeah but i agree, a 13.4 million income tax paying minority is unsustainable long term

          • Steady_B2k

16.9 million social grants paid out monthly is definitely unsustainable.

          • 小杜 (xiao du)

Its actually an 800,000-1.3million income paying tax base.

          • Red_Baron1234

            There is tax free food.

          • Betterestdayz

Wah ha ha. ..now vat vas funny

          • [email protected]

Doesn’t really count if you receive more from the state in grants and free services than you pay in VAT.

        • bengine

It’s very easy not to pay tax. Give up your job, go live in a shack, wake up at 4am every day and go stand on the street corner and hope someone will give you work for a day so your family (and hopefully you) can eat. Come home – eat if you have food sleep and repeat.
          Simple.

          • david

True, now if the government could actually manage to uplift these people. Imagine what that would do for the tax base. But government seems to be more interested in wallowing in the trough

    • jamesdunne999

Idiot. The majority pay more tax but the minority are also paying more simply because they have more stolen assets from the apartheid years

      • fourijm

        huh?

      • Stuart Steedman

I’d love to know what stolen assets I have from the apartheid years. Doubly so since I was still a small child in 94.

        • Rob. Mobey

Hi Stuart, Man you forget quickly, stolen assets are the things you had purchased and owned during the apartheid years. Just the way I think.

    • fourijm

Grants for every child born in my opinion, makes them breed.

    • Rob. Mobey

Hi Nick, Gee, ish, you missed out the seven wife’s part. It does not matter just P***p away, whatever you do don’t think just concentrate. Just the way I think.

  • Lone Stranger

They way they go on you would think the population has dropped by more than 10%. All I see is a 1.5% decrease. Not worth the scandel.

    • Ikhwane –

Depends what age group or cohort account for much of the drop. If its in the young then the effects will be amplified in later years.

    • Wyzak

That’s a really dumb way of thinking about it.

Consider that the other three race groups have grown at 9.5, 6.9 and 5.5% The average of that is a growth of 7.3%. But let’s take the minimum growth rate of 5.5% and assume that the white population is also growing at 5.5%. The fact that the population growth rate for whites is -1.5% means that 5.5% + 1.5% of the population has emigrated. That’s 7% of whites…

    • Dylan Dylan

These forums know how to make white people click click click.

      • Trac Mila

It also brings out the CUCKS.

      • ian shaw

There is some basic truth in their click, click, click which people like you do not accept, just mock and accuse them for “not wanting to contribute”
(to a corrupt and incompetent government?) Say, which comes first? Your family’s welfare or that of the state where most people would love to wave you good-bye anyway?

  • Trac Mila

Lets not forget the 90,000 white’s who have been murdered since 94. @N_ata6ha

    • Dylan Dylan

Lets also not forget the +-350k other races that were also senselessly murdered. Crime does not only affect white people, ALL South Africans are in the same boat. Stop playing the victim card, its as old and stupid as the race card.

      • AfricanAfrikaner

350k of 40mil is 0.9% of the population.
90k of 5 mil is 1.8% of the population.

If those numbers were correct the impact is double, is it not?

I agree it’s an old card, but the numbers show we’re on an extinction path and the other races are increasing. That should be concerning, Dylan.

        • Dylan Dylan

Roughly, 47 people murdered daily, 1.7 of that is a white person.

Considering how we still treat and speak to our African countrymen, im surprised that number isnt higher. It should be and we would deserve it.

          • david

We would deserve it, rather a broad statement. Nobody deserves to be murdered

          • Dylan Dylan

No of course not but white attitudes towards blacks havent changed much in the last 22 years and we need to start being a little more aware of what we say and how we say it. Things arent going to get better with the current rhetoric coming from the broader white circles.

          • david

The main issue there is the cultural divide, people tend to stay within their comfort zones. So there is little close social contact. As for attitude there has been a change and the rhetoric is been amplified to reflect a larger representation of the white population than it truly is. The timing would suggest a ploy to use DIE WIT GEVAAR to drum up votes for the ANC.

          • Dylan Dylan

I own two bars/restaurants, I have been in F&B and entertainment going on 15 years now. I am fortunate to have plenty social contact with all South Africans.

I haven’t had any issues or racism from anyone else other than whites in over a decade. Its a huge, huge problem and it needs to stop.

          • david

Maybe its the crowd your venues attract?

          • Dylan Dylan

No, its not my venues, its white arrogance.

          • david

Well it does exist, but from my experience it has been in the minority. Have you noticed a lean towards either english or afrikaans speakers?

          • Dylan Dylan

Ive noticed a lean more towards, blue collar and lower-middle income earners but not always. Its very hard to pin point what groups it comes from.

Obviously I am a liberal and in my daily conversations, its very hard to find people who dont snigger, sneer or wink at what they perceive as black failure or incompetence.

Its also very generational. The older white population are more vocal and show their intolerance easier.

I think the army had a lot to do with it too. It messed with a lot of white South Africans heads.

How do you go from fighting a war against a perceived terrorist and enemy to reconciliation in a blink of an eye?

There is decades of apartheid indoctrination still swimming in the heads of many white South Africans.

          • Wenwe

Decades of apartheid will seem like a walk in the park after we have all been forced off this land. And as for spending your days pin-pointing what group this and what group that, have a seat and I will tell you. It is a frustrated white culture, or hard working people, that, after decades or apartheid, wanted to join hands and move this country forward. Now, we have targets on our backs. What would you do?

          • Jordan

You obviously feel strongly about the subject. What are you doing to change things in South Africa other than post your opion here?

          • Betterestdayz

Don’t worry. .staple this to your front door. ..they will come for you last…

          • Dylan Dylan

            Oh look. Another Uhuru idiot.

          • justfedup

            May God heal his head.

          • KayoZen

            Da(y)zed says it all!

          • Renny Meere

Dylan let’s just face it, you are a racist, what did you expect from the whites, they are not allowed to work in their own country, political parties like the ANC with a leader that can’t even read numbers, wasteful spending in the billions, failing infrastructure, nepotism, blah blah, yeah keep blaming the whites for your failures and see how far it gets you.

          • Dylan Dylan

Im white you ignorant cockwomble. This a new democracy, it will sort itself out. Whites are allowed to work, we just compete for space with a majority that was marginilised but now is picked first, to right the wrongs. Deal with it.

          • david

I have no problem competing, but we are locked out. 3 years unemployed and no permanent position. Have landed a contract manager position which cant go permant since they need a equity candidate but havent been able to find one, how is that fair. This is why i am planning to leave

          • Dylan Dylan

Hectic. I can understand your anger and frustration. I saw the writing on the wall around 10 years ago and took a gamble.

It hasn’t been easy, Im still in debt, every time Zuma opens his mouth, I panic because I can see the economy shrinking but I integrated. Formed partnerships and friendships.

I opened up and started talking and dealing with my countrymen as equals. Life has never been better and their is an inner peace inside me, its hard to explain on an internet forum filled with racism and skepticism.

I think the last two pillars where whites can still contribute under this current government is mentorship/consultancy or self employment.

Its not easy but it can be done. However, the mass exodus out of SA is concerning and its not only whites leaving. The skill shortages we are facing in many sectors is alarming.

          • david

Actually it more dissapointment than anger, i understand the reason behind the policies but the negative effect is hard to ignore along with the government failures. I have never had a problem dealing with others, just treated them as i would want to be treated. That attude stood me in good stead the 9 years i was in the saps especially since most of my time was in the townships. Some of my black colleagues currently studying with me are also planning to leave to get a better life for themselves and family. One says she is doing it to escape the black tax and some of the othet cultural requirements.

          • justfedup

Dylan this country needs a million(and more) of YOUs

          • KayoZen

Justfedup, I hope you and one of me and Dylan too? Working to make SA a better place for all.

          • AfricanAfrikaner

I hear all of what you’ve been saying Dylan. Just remember there’s a lot of hate on the black side as well. Enough to massacre families and rape women and children. If you don’t realise this, I’m afraid you’ve gone over too far to the dark side and I cannot help you any longer.
I have many colleagues from different cultures and I respect them and they me. I enjoy drinks and dinner with them and their families. I go to their weddings and funerals. I hug their mothers. I love and respect them all the same.

It’s the ones that don’t respect us, don’t want us to have anything and rape, murder and steal that I have a problem with. The Malema’s, Zuma’s and ANC and EFF voters that also vote for the wrong reasons and have a higher sense of entitlement. They are the biggest problem with our country. My fellow whites in the blue collars in the middle to poor-classes are all bark and no bite. They are harmless. Talk is cheap. That’s my opinion.

          • justfedup

What you are experiencing is what other races experienced for more than 5 decades under apartheid government and had NO say.
It is not right but the point is Dylan argues that ALL people, yourself included, compete for jobs in an ever-shrinking job market AND COLOUR NO LONGER GUARANTEES PREVILEGE AND PREFERENCE over other candidates. The equity candidate deserves the chance that was denied.

          • david

As i said i have no problem competing but then open all jobs and allow equity to be a determinant rather than close some totally and those that are open still prefer equity. How about leaving a position open when there is no suitable equity candidate but there are suitable non equity candidates. As for a chance denied i start studying again in 2000 and 85% of my graduating class was black and 90% of my current class is black. But its all academic, my goal is to finish my current studies and leave SA for good

          • justfedup

I wish you good luck in your future endeavours.Pity that people who can contribute to the betterment of this country have to consider options like the one you are considering.May you prosper my fellow South African.

          • david

            Thank you and to you

          • KayoZen

You sound like a Brexiteer who’s fallen prey to packs of lies, fear mongering and pessimism. Very sad.

          • Wenwe

What broader white circles? Didn’t you read the heading? There is only one circle and it is rapidly shrinking. So tell me, will it honestly be better without us whiteys eh?

          • Stuart Steedman

People deserve to be murdered? Jeez bud.

          • Dylan Dylan

No, of course not but I understand black anger and frustration towards whites.

          • Silver King

            Misguided anger that is.

          • ian shaw

Why don’t these people get angry at their own so-called leaders
who steal the money allocated for their upliftment? Blaming the whites for their own incompetence and corruption is only an election ploy but it is still believed by voters.

          • Space Chief

It happened in the UK with Brexit. Basically there were good reasons for telling the EU to check itself but leaving was not necessary as most of the reasons were debunked by University of Liverpool. However immigration and those foreigners working in Starbucks were blamed for job losses, unemployment, over burdened NHS and loss of British identity– which judging by the British Sun and Daily Mail was lost centuries ago anyway and replaced with trash. Anyhow don’t think politicians aren’t looking at that and thinking they can also blame foreigners – whether born here or not is not relevant.

When it comes to leaders I think most people thing, rather OUR own than THEIRS. People see a rich guy like say Bekker, or Oppenheimer or Ackermann and think these guys got rich off working classes with the benefit of apartheid and so on. Why should a little not go to their own elected representatives and so on?

          • Space Chief

Hold on, there is a racist assumption there that you make.

          • Batman

            That time of month?

          • Dylan Dylan

            What? Payday? Yes.

          • justfedup

            So true Dylan.

      • brz

But this discussion is about the shrinking white population, so Trac Mila’s comment is spot on.

        • KayoZen

          Verifiable stats please?

    • Kaizo

That 90k figure was busted. I believe that was the same BS figure that came from Steve Hofmeyer months back. Africa Check was the company that challenged him, and that fool folded like a paper plane. I suggest you find another source for your stats than Hofmeyer’s Facebook page, you are not going to find any truth there. The real reason why the white population is decreasing is because white’s are running away to foreign countries. Much easier than helping to find solutions to the problems that your population group might I add caused a lot of.

      • david

Not going to dispute the stats. But the whites are not running away, those who have left and thone who are going to leave like myself are doing it to secure a better future for ourselves and our children. I am not going to stay and endure tough conditions as some sort of penitence for white sins, if i dont have to.
The biggest issue in SA is the cultural divide between its people and not just on a color basis, but also on a tribal basis which includes whites i.e. english and afrikaans. This is a very large divide to bridge. As a white male i have found that the overall attitude is that i cant be part of the solution and must just shut up and pay tax. The majority of my interaction with my fellow south africans are amicable and we all want the same thing a good life for ourselves and our families.

        • Random

I left for the same reasons. You can’t begin to understand the sacrifices we have made. We ate through half our life savings until I recently got a paying job 7 months later. I have had to neglect my Pr Eng and MBA, and start my career over. Meanwhile my loved ones are in South Africa and our parents are unable to leave – our children will grow up not really knowing their grandparents. So shut up about us running away.

          • Kaizo

Oh the struggle, I’m sure there are not many people that could go through what you have been through. Poor thing… You’ve carried such a burden. What planet do you come from? Cause it sure as hell isn’t Earth. Take a look at how poor people who actually suffer and struggle daily live, before you start moaning about the “suffering” your privilege afforded you..pathetic.

          • Random

You are as much a hypocrite. Enjoy sitting behind your pc while pretending you are making a difference.

          • KayoZen

We lived overseas and happily returned. Other family members wish they could return, but are now stuck overseas and very unhappy.

          • david

Why were you not happy and why are your family unhappy where ever they are?

    • Sello Puo

You are just as insane as your Steve Hofmeyr who gives out arbitrary numbers without any reliable sources. Most whites have emigrated to Australia because they just can’t stand blackness in their faces.

      • KayoZen

        100% agreed 1st sentence … 200% disagreed 2nd sentence Grrrr!

    • KayoZen

What utter BS! Have you fallen prey to racist Steve Hofmeyr and his racist fear mongering?

  • manbott

So what does this article show? That whites are emigrating and Africans are breeding like rabbits? There’s probably still more white tax payers than african though

    • Dylan Dylan

Breeding like rabbits or perhaps breeding like normal human beings? Africans make up 80% of the population, obviously the demographic will increase at a higher rate than the rest.

      • Duncan

I agree with your sentiment but not with your mathematics. It does not follow that the largest group will replicate at the highest rate.

      • manbott

Probably got more to do with chasing child grant money than natural increases

        • Dylan Dylan

This might surprise you but even a woman with a standard 3 education living in the squatter camp knows that the child support grant cant support her & her child.

          • manbott

All the grants put together is enough to put food on the table. I have some squatter camp dwellers working for me and they often joke about how easy it is to manipulate the grant system. Iv heard all about the tricks people can use

          • EM

And yet that same woman will have more kids than her counterpart who UNDERSTANDS your equation Dylan. Go figure? So “culturally” kids = wealth (and become their “pension fund”) or have we “westernised” past that myth? Sadly I do think that like China for the next few years women of all races should be sterilised – too many people of whatever colour vs too few jobs = what? POVERTY. Some population goups understand that kids are expensive to raise and educate therefore naturally do not have more than they can provide for themselves. Forget about racism it is as simple as the reality that the planet is running out of food and resources. By the way I am a woman and chose to have 1 child only.

      • david

Actual the reproduction rate is inline with a population making the transition from a rural cultural background to a urban culture. Having large numbers of children is a holdover from times with high infant mortality and a need for hands to work the land. My Great great grandparents had 10 kids out of them only 3 survived to make it past their 20’s

    • KayoZen

LOL born here … then African like me! Proudly African!!

  • RSF

“In the 0-4 age group, StatsSA recorded a white population of 68,267 in 2011, dropping to 253,035 in 2016.”

Wow, a “drop” from 68,267 to 253,035. Sounds like Zuma’s infiltrated StatsSA too.

    • Unger Bantu

I think the number should be 268,267.

      • RSF

That would certainly make a lot more sense.

    • jamesdunne999

It wasn’t Zuma but the white Staff Writer who made the mistake. She probably needs to emigrate too. The whites poor talents will be appreciated better in the EU

      • Wyzak

Keep your racist comment to yourself.

      • RSF

Unless Staff Writer copied and pasted from another press release.

In any event, it was a comment on the quality of our maths education under Zuma’s watch along with his obvious penchant for numbers and his campaign to instill his cronies into key state organisations in South Africa. I’d have thought that was obvious…

You seem to be implying that Staff Writer is a white woman – why would you think that? Sure seems like a pretty bigoted comment.

  • Cheesy 3.0

Less whites: I guess the majority will be happy about that.

    • AVJ

“The majority” will never be pleased…

    • Mikhael Rowe

One day they will burn and loot because there are no more whites.

    • AnonymousSA

Then they will want to move to Europe.

Yep, it is impossible to figure out Black ‘logic’. That’s probably why Blacks are so lousy with computers. Whites are so evil & nasty to Blacks that poor Blacks keep on moving from impoverished Black countries to White nations and have been doing so for hundreds of years. They even demand to have their own nations, free from Whites – fair enough – but even after they do achieve that, then they migrate to where? That’s right, you guessed it – White nations. And to reach these White nations Blacks keep on bypassing dozens of mulatto, Oriental and other Black nations to fulfill their goal of living in one of these nasty White nations in which Blacks are treated worse than dogs. Yep, this ‘Black logic’ makes absolutely no sense at all to anyone, not even to Blacks themselves – so, all these Black demands should just be totally ignored as it is just all complaining & wailing from these overgrown Black children who never ever seem to grow up & are always demanding the never-ending ‘gibsmedats’ from Whites.

Lousy with computers. Do you get paid to deficate crap from your mouth or is it your hobby. My sister in law is an engineer, my brother is an analyst who is a fully qualified c++ developer. I am a full stack developer. I’ve written ruby, php and JavaScript and I have not spoken about my bachelor’s degree in multimedia design. We are all black south Africans. So please do explain your logic?

        • justfedup

And anonymous will remain anonymous forever.Crappy racist!!

        • ian shaw

Congratulations, but your are of the very few who made it thus far.
I suppose you’ve had the resources to study which so many don’t.

  • Riaan

Wonder what white unemployment would be without all the emigration? Black people see the opposite – with all the black immigration – and then still think life will be great if only they could get the jobs of whites. But let us get out of this color trap. If only south africans could stop being so obsessed with 8% of the population and allow ALL to build the economy.

    • david

Its that obsession to push the white male out coupled with the political direction that I see us headed that killed a desire to stay.

I have 3 young kids, 2 boys and a girl and I see no future for them here, the whole sins of the ancestors thing. I want them to grow up where they are not automatically excluded due to skin color and culture. I want their young years to be care free not caged.

We all want this for our kids regardless of color and I hope SA does improve for those that stay.

      • straight8

Automatic baggage for life if they stay here. So sad, but its a no go.

      • Batman

One of the best things that could have happened to white males was BBEEE. Now wait before you crucify me but think about it. White males are forced into becoming entrepeneurs running your own business cause you have no other choice. And this is exactly what I teach my kids is to think for themselves. Honestly who wants a corporate job if you can work for yourself and earn a good living? No other country in the world will give you such opportunities but granted its not easy. Mindset change that’s all.

        • david

Good point, but not everbody is cut out to be an entrepreneur. You also have to deal with equity requirements for financing and staffing when running your own business. A classmate has recently had to deal with that due to the success and growth of the company he started.

          • Batman

Granted it is not for everyone and for heavensake dont leave your job to sell ice cream. Just saying there is good and bad to every situation and you must be able to adapt in a blink of an eye. If all else fails then emigrate. The last thing I plan to do in my life is if julius become the next king to the masses I will import maize sell it at 100% profit so he can feed the masses. People have to eat!!! All about perspective….

          • david

Looked at my options and emigration offers the best bet in terms of my families future.

Lol one of my electives for next year is african leadership.
I actually want to study further once i am settled

        • John-Phillip Saayman

It’s BBBEE.. Haha sorry everybody knows what it is regardless.. My policing for the day.

        • straight8

One of the worst things – it perpuates apartheid and is immoral. Never heard of a country that does this to a minority. Well, nazi germany did this to the jews,

      • justfedup

And there is another black family with EXACTLY the same hopes and aspirations.

We all want the same things and all of us cannot get them at the same time. Some of us have a little more tolerance and patience to wait for plans to materialise.

        • david

My patience ran out and a golden oppertunity appeared which i am grasping with both hands. My motto is better safe than sorry.

  • Matthew McGregor

You can add another one to that list. Planning to leave end of next year. Will be the best day of my life 🙂

    • david

      Me to

    • Annon

Left 6 yrs ago but still have family and friends back in Jozi and Durbs that i worry about

  • david

This is a trend seen internationally among’st developed p[populations and countries, with some like Japan achieving a negative birth rate.

    • Literally Mario

      Whoa, whoa, friendo.
Are you insinuating that whites are more ‘developed’?

      • david

The majority of the white population fit into a urban 1st world cultural demographic. With regard to blacks the majority are still influenced by rural cultural holdovers regarding children. You are starting to see the middle class rejecting this and having fewer children.
It is not a race issue, but rather one of cultural advancement from rural to urban, low tech to high tech. It can be seen in action all over the world

  • AVJ

    +9.5% = uneducated

  • bengine

    … must have got wet

  • Wyzak

Consider that the other three race groups have grown at 9.5, 6.9 and 5.5% The average of that is a growth of 7.3%. But let’s take the minimum growth rate of 5.5% and assume that the white population is also growing at 5.5%. The fact that the population growth rate for whites is -1.5% means that 5.5% + 1.5% of the population has emigrated. That’s 7% of whites…

  • Khalsa Singh

The EFF wont be pleased with these counter-revolutionary stats……….. less land to steal would destroy their sole election manifesto.
They could try stealing ANC cadre owned land……but Marikana lessons would be hard for even them to forget

    • Wurnman

Well less whites to do their manual labour whilst they fill up the managerial positions.

      • Seak

        Manual labour? Example?

  • Witte Boer

It would be interesting to see some real stats on race groups providing employment. I would bet that in the non-government sector white people are the majority providers of employment. With a shrinking white population this will in the end cause more unemployment.

  • Red_Baron1234

Yep with number 1 breeding like a rabbit setting a good example and the minority paying the tax for it.

    • AfricanAfrikaner

Forget about just the breeding. #TshwaneUnrest will also be funded by the taxpayers. They cost us more than we know.

  • SouthAfricaFirst

People will go where they can have a good quality of life……

    • AfricanAfrikaner

      Especially your quality folks.

  • Lord_Santa

Businesstech/Mybroadband have a headline like this every few months. I think by now we know that the white population is shrinking. We need to be reminded again next month, though, just to be sure, please Businesstech.

  • Betterestdayz

Ja hey. ..murdered farmers plant no crops either. .. Rip

  • James Dean

If you can’t feed don’t breed.

    An oldie but a goodie.

  • johnramsunder

King Zwelitini, has mentioned the right thing, that when S.Africa was handed over to the blacks it was a solid structure and had all the mineral wealth in the country which the whites have brought out and enriched the country resulting in a promising land for all. The whites many have left the country not because they are the minority but because the government has no direction in which it is going. Only promises made by the anc all the time.

  • SpiritOfNehanda

    Go..

    • Betterestdayz

      No. .

  • Joost Van heerden

I honestly don’t believe this crap survey we’ve been under counted for years now. Don’t belive these cap surveys done by cadres.

  • Rob. Mobey

Hi, I am white and I don’t care what you call me. Why is it that everyone in SA rattles on about punishing racists? Why not treat it as a disease and find the cause, maybe it’s being implemented by the behavior of the ANC and black people. Oops maybe I should not call them black. Example: ANC’s Government is a threat to all our futures in SA and is plunging us all into hell. I am stressed out at what the ANC is doing to us all as citizens. They divide us by corruption, misery, BEE and policies, no respect, respect is earned not dictated. Look at the cause not the prevention. The ANC is too powerful, too mighty and has been in power for too long, reminds me of Hitler. Just my way of seeing it. Am I aloud freedom of speech and freedom of expression?

    • ian shaw

As a wise old man, you should know that so far every dictatorship, colonial power, racial oppressor and socialist experimenter has failed at the end. It was just too bad for the millions who suffered during their rein. In conclusion, humanity has never benefited from their fall because they got into another mess shortly afterwards.

      • Rob. Mobey

Hi Ian, You have obviously programed yourself to only see the negative side. Lets look at some basics. No man or human being has the right to destroy other humans in any way at all. Even our laws support this. We should all pay attention to that very closely. Bending or changing these basic laws to suit individual or majority needs is not a solution. If we all abided by the laws and good common sense, learn from our failures, apply a little respect, have a little faith, then maybe we would all stop destroying ourselves over and over again. It’s all really quite simple. Law should have nothing to do with politics or religion, it is a requirement of society without it there would be bedlam as we can clearly see today in our beautiful SA. Just the way I think.

        • ian shaw

So you are 68. Negative????Well, I am 82 and have lived through Nazism, Communism, failed American idealism, SA apartheid, Zumaism so I did not have to “program myself”, the facts speak for themselves. You are right: “if we…..” the everything would be OK. But “we unfortunately don’t”. No one, including myself, implied that laws should be changed or “bent”. Laws are different for different folks (Zuma, Pistorius come to mind). Learn from our failures? The new generation simply repeats them. Common sense and faith? Sermonizing won’t help, even if I agree with you that “it would be nice”.
I have good relationship with my “garden guy” as well, and several others like him, but it is a drop in the ocean, so I don’t delude myself by thinking that it will change the minds of Zuma or Hlaudi. Serious students of history have written volumes about the repeated failures of do-gooders who wanted to reform society according to some new formula, religion, or ideology. However, the pendulum keeps swinging back and forth and in one extreme position it satisfies one faction, while in the opposite position it satisfies the opposite faction. If the pendulum’s swinging were to be stopped, it would not satisfy anyone, for all factions strive for special unearned privileges.
Study history, my friend and I wish you many positive thought about it. Read the famous French philosopher, Voltaire, who said that in the world’s turmoil, all one can do is to cultivate his own “small garden”. I should add; with or without “garden guys”.

          • Rob. Mobey

Hi Ian, Well, well, well maybe I am wrong and we are all programed to be negative or acquired negativity somehow. So we all as humans will perish by our own hands without any help at all. All we have to do is sit on our rear ends and watch. That’s very nice is there any way we can hurry it up. Just the way you think sorry we should think.

          • ian shaw

Rob, Oh, no. Remember what it was like when we were children or even high school students? We were positive, hopeful, optimistic, expecting good things to come our way. We also went along with mainstream ideas and believed in the different ways of social reform, which ever was served up for us. We did not wish to sit “on our rear ends and watch”. Some Eastern philosophers called people like us “the uncarved block”. Yes, that was the time of our lives, it gave us meaning and purpose, an involvement in progress. I still remember what it was like and am grateful for the memories. Besides, I got deeply involved in science which was a promise of sweeping away all superstitions and promote logic above all. This was the usual growing up in the so-called Western culture. After lots of disappointments, it seemed to be a good idea to examine other cultures and ways of thinking. Yet the growing up process seems to bring up the same thought patterns. Nowadays I keep my sanity by “sitting on my rear end and watch” in addition to smell flowers and roast chicken , plant herbs and go jogging.

Could someone share some tips om the easiest way to get put of here and smooth transition?

    • david

Easiest is via ancestry, i know that a british grandparent entitles you to an ancestery visa which will cover spouse and children. It also makes it easier to access the job market. Not sure on other countries ancestral offerings.
Next is occupation, look on the countries website as some offer to fast track certain categories.
Some countries offer study visas for students.
Dont let people fiscourage you, make a goal and work towards it

      • User

Thanks for the encouraging words David. Unfortunately the ancestry route will not be possible.

I would also leave the country right now if it was possible, for the same reasons in the articles: to create a better future for children and grandchildren .

        • david

Just keep looking, remember “where there is a will there is a way”

  • FRacTuR3_za

Time to start breeding folks…Let’s have 20 kids each. And them have 20 each and so on and so forth. Any willing women out there willing and able haha

  • Ray Mulder

The reason for this is simple…all the racist whites are now been born into black bodies to teach them a lesson and show them what it’s like to be black and oppressed…so it stands to reason that the whites are dying out…now this is the exact reason why I am NOT a racist…because who wants to be black and oppressed.
Now don’t read this with a twisted mind and agenda… just think about it…
Reincarnation is a fact and you’re in for a great surprise if you continue knocking other races…black or white… every human, no matter what colour his/her skin is, is potentially equal…YOU ARE NOT YOUR BODY….wake up !

    • ian shaw

Reincarnation is wishful thinking. The truth is that you need your opponent to hate or love, everything and everybody in the world has two poles like a magnet, no one is an isolated entity, we are all parts of a great whole. We are just indoctrinated to think that we are independent entities riding on our ego which is only a superficial appearance yet it is easy to believe, Read the book by Alan Watts entitled “The Book On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You are”.
