Building a Healthier Future for Limpopo
Healthcare infrastructure has the power to transform lives; not only by treating illness, but by building stronger communities and creating opportunities for future generations.
The Limpopo Central Academic Hospital is a landmark investment that will do exactly that. With a budget of R5 billion, this state-of-the-art facility will deliver 488 beds, 17 operating theatres, specialised oncology services and advanced maternal and child healthcare units.
But this project goes far beyond bricks and mortar.
As an academic hospital, it will play a critical role in training the next generation of doctors, nurses, and specialists, strengthening healthcare systems across the province while improving access to quality care for communities.
Currently under construction in Polokwane, and with steady progress toward its planned completion in July 2028, the project reflects strong collaboration between the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), the Limpopo Provincial Government, and key stakeholders.
The hospital is also set to deliver lasting economic and social impact; supporting local development, enhancing skills and positioning Polokwane as a hub for healthcare and academic excellence.
Ultimately, the Limpopo Central Academic Hospital represents more than a new facility. It is a legacy of care, resilience, and opportunity; a foundation for healthier communities and a stronger future for Limpopo.
