Huawei says it is targeting the creation of an open cloud ecosystem to enable future growth.

The mobile and technology group has five cloud computing R&D centers around the globe with more than 10,000 engineers.

At present, Huawei has 480 data centers across the world, 160 of which are cloud data centers.

Speaking at the 5th Huawei Cloud Congress (HCC 2015) in Shanghai on Friday (18 September), Eric Xu, Huawei’s Rotating CEO, said: “We will focus on IT infrastructure, software platforms, and enterprise cloud services when creating a cloud ecosystem.

“We will create a cloud ecosystem with business cooperation at its core and technical partnership and talent development as its foundation. This ecosystem will enable our partners to jointly expand the industry size and achieve mutual success.”

He said that Huawei will develop a leading cloud operating system (OS), Big Data platform, and PaaS platform by combining its technical strengths with those of its partners. “Together, we will create an open and dynamic cloud ecosystem.”
