ER24 launches IDMe mobile service
National emergency medical care service ER24 has launched a new service called IDMe that connects users to fast medical help via mobile phone in the event of an emergency.
The service is powered by technology from GSM location based services, Cellfind, a subsidiary of Blue Label Telecoms.
“IDMe is your guardian and helper in any emergency. It turns your cellphone into a panic button that immediately links you to ER24’s Contact Centre when you hit a speed dial number,” the group said.
The user’s location can be traced by means of triangulation using cellular towers. An operator will also phone the user immediately to find out what assistance is needed so that the authorities and necessary help can be dispatched to the correct location.
ER24 spokesperson, Werner Vermaak said: “The incidence of trauma in South Africa has increased dramatically in recent years. It is a sad fact that emergencies such as road accidents and violent crime can strike at any time.”
“Cellfind is proud to be partnering with ER24 to provide a service such as IDMe. With IDMe, you can safeguard your life and the lives of your family members by ensuring that when you need it, you will always be able to get real help quickly,” added Jacques Swanepoel, MD at Cellfind.
