Cheapest crossovers from every brand in South Africa – starting at R220,000

 ·12 Nov 2023

Crossover SUVs are notably popular among South African motorists, as they offer more roominess and higher clearance than standard cars – giving owners the best of both city and off-road driving across the demanding terrain the country’s roads have to offer.

Crossovers offer a great combination of practicality and performance. They typically have more space and cargo room than a typical hatchback, making them perfect for families while maintaining a decent fuel consumption when compared to standard SUVs.

Additionally, crossover SUVs are easier to manoeuvre around parking bays and in rush-hour traffic and are becoming more affordable, making them more accessible to a wider range of consumers.

These advantages are why four crossover SUVs are featured on Naamsa’s best-selling cars for October 2023.

According to their new vehicle sales report, Toyota retained its title as South Africa’s best-selling carmaker, selling 12,440 vehicles – comprising 27.3% of all vehicles sold last month.

This meant that the Toyota Corolla Cross was the best-selling crossover in October – selling 2,100 units.

The second best-selling crossover was the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro, ranking 11th on Naamsa’s list with a sale of 856 units, while the Nissan Magnite came in third, ranking 13th, selling a total of 715 units in October.

As it stands, there are 36 of the cheapest crossovers from every brand in South Africa – ranging from under R219,000 to almost R2 million.

The cheapest listed crossover is the BAIC X25 1.5 Comfort, selling at R219,990, while the Maserati Grecale GT, the most expensive, retails at a cool R1,990,000.
